Good god. I can’t believe I’ve neglected to give you an update for this long. Wow…
So. A lot has happened since January 2016…
For a quick update, go to my main blog and watch my “Chatty Update” Video.
On February 26th, 2016 I started Cosmetology School at HairMasters Institute of Cosmetology. As of October I have been on the clinic floor working on real customers. I was so nervous about going on the floor at first. I’m still a little shaky when I do haircuts, but I’m getting there. I’ve found my love in this industry and it is coloring and cutting hair. Coloring, obviously, since I’ve been coloring my own hair and my friends hair since I was 12. I’m supposed to graduate in March 2017 and I plan to apply at 2 chain salons called Hair Cuttery and Great Clips. I mainly just want to focus on cutting and coloring. I’ve learned I’m not good at Up-Do’s. At all. I’m okay at perms. I’m not very good at styling just yet either.
One good thing has come from me going to school. I have another best friend! Her name is Lyndi. She’s 18 and she’s so awesome. We have so much in common. However, I will not be neglecting my first best friend, Brooklyn. I’m trying to keep the balance between them.
In case you missed it, I wrote a book in November 2015. It’s called Living Dead Girl and it’s available on amazon.com under my pseudonym Nikkole Watkins. It’s a teen book with lots of cursing, underage drinking, ghosts, and it’s own love story. I put my heart into that book and my best friend, Brooklyn, was kind enough to edit it for me. My husband, Logan, helped me design the cover. I’m pretty proud of it. I’m not very happy that the lowest I could set the price was $25 per book; especially when I only make about $10 off each copy sold.
Let’s talk about my mental health… I’m getting there. Slowly, but surely. We’ve had to do some medication adjustments, but I think they seem to be doing okay. I’m on Zyprexa at night, and Prozac during the day. I still have a little trouble concentrating, but like I said, I think I’m getting there.
Obviously I’ve neglected my incoming mail pile as well. I have the biggest stack I’ve ever had. It’s insane… I just sent out Holiday postcards to all my penpals yesterday letting them all know to expect a reply from me within the New Year.
That’s about all that’s changed in the past year. I hope you’ve all had a Happy Thanksgiving and you enjoy the coming Holidays.
